President's Message

Missy Collins
GSO President 2021-2023
Welcome, Georgia State Organization Members, to the 2021-2023 Biennium!!!
I want to thank the 2019 – 2021 leadership team for their tremendous leadership during an extremely tough and unprecedented biennium. You were able to be inventive and flexible leading GSO through the challenges and restrictions of COVID.
Our mission statement states that DKG promotes “the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education”. Our vision statement is Leading Women Educators Impacting Education Worldwide. By being a part of this unique organization, we can make a difference — if we all do our part. What is our part? I believe we need to build up our state, build up our chapters and build up our membership.
We build up our state by participating in Georgia State Organization meetings, activities, and opportunities. We build up our chapters by encouraging them to meet, to stay in touch, and to plan their informative programs and impactful projects. We can achieve this by doing the planning now thereby allowing both GSO and chapters to start off at full force.
Building up the membership means never stopping the search for ladies who are deserving of membership, they are everywhere you are. DKG, GSO and each chapter has so much to offer every member! GSO and the chapter can actively encourage and support each member as they move toward achieving the goals of growing personally and professionally through Delta Kappa Gamma.
There are so many opportunities available through our society that will help us in making a difference in our lives and the lives of others. I encourage you to take advantage of everything your membership offers and gain comfort in knowing that while we struggle to become the person we dreamed of being we have acceptance and encouragement from our GSO sisters.
This biennium I want to:
To UNITE women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship
To HONOR women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education
To ADVANCE the professional interest and position of women in education
To INITIATE, ENDORSE, and SUPPORT desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators
To ENDOW scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-member women educators.
To STIMULATE the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action
To INFORM the members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society
by Building on the Purposes.
